INFLUENCING NATIONAL ASSEMBLY PARLIAMENTARY DEBATE ON POSTPARTUM HEMORRHAGE

Activity Description

The EPPH Initiative principals, Prof Moses Obimbo and Dr Kireki Omanwa, held a consultative meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly of Kenya, Rt Hon Dr Moses Wetangula, on 12th November 2025. During the meeting, the project leads highlighted the magnitude of PPH and presented the background, strategic objectives, achievements, and upcoming activities and events. The purpose of the meeting was to secure the Speaker’s buy-in so that he could champion the EPPH Initiative and support its activities by prioritizing bills related to maternal health. The Speaker acknowledged the problem and committed to facilitating discussions on matters related to maternal health. Also present at the meeting was Ms Gathoni Kung’u, a Governance and Advocacy Specialist/Stakeholder Mobilization Consultant.
