ENGENDERING PAEDIATRICIANS TO JOIN THE FIGHT AGAINST POST PARTUM HEMORRHAGE

Activity Description

The effect of PPH on neonates, infants and babies in general has been a neglected subject as it is seen only as a problem of mothers. As part of its awareness campaign, the EPPH-i has been amplifying the effect of PPH on neonates and infants. The inability to initiate skin-skin contact for warmth and maternal bonding, and breastfeeding, reduces a baby’s survival chances. The EPPH-i has engendered paediatricians to join the fight against postpartum haemorrhage. During the 5th stakeholder’s consultative forum, Dr Celia Kariuki, a neonatologist at the Mama Lucy Kibaki hospital and member of the Kenya Pediatric Association, amplified the effects of PPH on newborns, setting the stage for KPA’s full support for the EPPH movement.
